Stellenbosch FC beat the juniors of Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in their opener of the Premier League Next Generation Cup.
Stellenbosch started the game like a house on fire and put pressure on Spurs goalkeeper Samual Archer, who was busy in the first 10 minutes. Ethan Felix took an early shot from his halfway line but the Spurs keeper made a brilliant save.

Stellies kept on piling on the pressure, Keenan Johannes had a chance to make it 1-0 inside the box but he was denied by the goalkeeper.
Just two minutes later, Langelihle Phili cut inside and went past two defenders but again the Spurs goalkeeper made a save – it was the Spurs goalkeeper against Stellies.
Eventually the early pressure of the DStv Diski Challenge champions paid off, as they made it 1-0 after 1-0 minutes when a corner bounced of a Spurs defender into their own own net.
It was 1-0 at half-time for Stellies, with the games being played at 25 minutes a half.
When the second half kicked off, the weather cooled down a bit, and both teams kept the ball well and more cautious.
The Cape Winelands side had a chance to make it 2-0 after a good combination between Kylen Baile and Phili, but Phili’s shot went over the crossbar.
Bailey cut inside with a few minutes left on the clock, but his shot was straight at the goalkeeper.
Spurs pushed for that equaliser but Stellies looked sharp at back and were holding onto their first win.
Stellies, though, lost the compulsory penalty shootout 5-4 to miss out on a potential extra point on Day 1.
