Sundowns Extend The Lead On Top, Pirates Dropped Points

Mamelodi Sundowns extended their lead on top to five points after beating Cape Town Spurs, while Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs dropped points with draws.

Sundowns extended their winning streak to six matches after hammering Spurs by 4-0 at Lucas Moripe Stadium. Downs remain top of the table, and they’ve extended their lead to five points. Masandawana are now closing in on their second DDC league title in the club’s history.

Stubborn TS Galaxy held Pirates to a goalless draw at Rand Stadium. The Buccaneers have now collected only one point out of a possible six points. This comes after losing to Spurs six days ago in Cape Town. Pirates have been struggling almost every season to get over the finish line of the season, and had a penalty saved in the dying minutes to miss out on the three points.

Kaizer Chiefs extended their unbeaten run to five matches after playing a 1-1 draw with Lamontville Golden Arrows. But the Amakhosi remain fourth place nine points behind Sundowns with eight matches left.

Stellenbosch will welcome Royal AM tomorrow afternoon at Idas Valley Sports Ground. The Cape Winelands side are under massive pressure as they look to close the gap to two points and occupy second place.

Results:

  • Mamelodi Sundowns 4-0 Cape Town Spurs
  • Kaizer Chiefs 1-1 Lamontville Golden Arrows
  • Orlando Pirates 0-0 TS Galaxy
  • Chippa United 1-1 Sekhukhune United
