Bvuma Breaks Silence On Khune Absence

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma has broken his silence on suspended teammate and former Amakhosi captain Itumeleng Khune.

Khune has been suspended by Chiefs since December after allegedly arriving under influence of alcohol to training.

Bvuma has since featured in six games, keeping five clean sheet, earning himself a new contract at Naturena.

During Chiefs’ media day on Thursday, Bvuma has now for the first time addressed the absence of Khune.

“Itu is a legend of the club, a legend of South African football. This is one person that we all idolised growing up, especially goalkeepers,” he told journalists.

“I’ve learnt a lot from him. With everything that’s going on, this is some one that I’ve very close with.

“We do talk quite a lot and he’s happy with me playing and performing for the team and stuff.

“Do I miss him, of course I do. As I mentioned he’s a club legend, he’s a South African legend. Not having someone like that next to you, of course you miss them when you [were] with that person each and every day.”

Khune had returned to playing, being named Man of the Match after leading the PSL All Star team to a 2-1 win over Stellenbosch FC in the Carling Black Label Cup, but has remained suspended for Amakhosi.

Caretaker coach Johnson said recently that Khune’s situation hasn’t changed and the club will make an announcement when it does.
