Chippa United have once again made a change to their technical team, with Morgan Mammila being moved out of the dugout to the Technical Director role.
Mammila returned as head coach to the Chilli Boys ahead of the 2023/24 season and there seemed to be a lot of positivity going into the campaign after some impressive signings.
However, after starting the season with just one defeat across the first nine league matches, things have once again turned sour in Gqeberha.
From the following eight games, including one in the Carling Knockout Cup, Mammila’s side only won one, while losing five.
This has resulted in the club, which wanted to finish inside the top eight this season, dropping to 13th place on the log – just five points above the relegation/promotion playoff spot – at the halfway point of the season.
As a consequence trigger-happy chairman Siviwe Mpengesi has now opted to move his friend back into an admin role, with Mammila set to continue as the club’s TD.
Thabo September and Lwanele Kopo will take over co-coaches to replace for the outspoken Mammila, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
