Lebusa Reserves Advice For Pirates Starlet

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mosa Lebusa has added his voice to praises of Orlando Pirates youngster Relebohile Mofokeng, but in the same breath advised him to stay focused.

Mofokeng, 19, impressed in the black and white this past season, featuring 38 times across all competitions, scoring five goals, including the Nedbank Cup winner against Sundowns, and laid six assists which catapulted to him walking away with two accolades at the PSL-end-of-Season awards on Sunday. He also made his Bafana Bafana debut in their 3-1 win over Zimbabwe.

In his chat with iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu, in edition 159 of our newspaper, Lebusa reflected on Mofokeng’s national team appearance and how his club teammates, Ronwen Williams and Teboho Mokoena made it easy for the midfielder to come on in that all-important 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers clash.

“We always want to be good people first and foremost before we are players,” Lebusa told iDiski Times.

“We are human beings, and we try to think for the next person. I think Ronza and Tebza saw the young man that it was his dream to represent the national team, and Tebza took the ball out for him to be introduced.

“And I was happy for him. I think he’s going to be one of the good players that come from this country. I was happy for him, and I hope from here, he will keep his feet on the ground and just climb higher and higher.”
