Matuludi Responds To Pirates Links

Polokwane City defender Thabang Matuludi has admitted that he’s in the dark about rumours linking him with a move to Orlando Pirates after an impressive 2023/24 campaign.

Matuludi, 25, had a dream debut season with Rise and Shine in the DStv Premiership, featuring in 33 matches across all competitions, scoring twice and providing a single assist, as City finished in the top eight.

His performances did not go unnoticed, as links with the country’s top clubs started to emerge. Matuludi even got a Bafana Bafana nod for Helman Mkhalele’s 2024 COSAFA Cup squad though they suffered an early group stage elimination.

In his candid chat with iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 161 of the newspaper, Matuludi said he knew nothing of being linked to the Buccaneers and that only the club owner can have a say as he’s contracted to the club.

“I really don’t know about that, it could be rumours but I have no idea,” he told iDiski Times.

“So I don’t have an answer for that. What I know is that I still have a contract with Polokwane City, only the club owner can be able to have a say on that.

“But I don’t know anything about that.

“I wouldn’t say I was surprised that I was able to adapt as swiftly as I did because I believe that as long as you work hard things will work themselves out and you end up matching up to that level.”
