Mokwena Dedicates Title To Motsepe

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has dedicated the seventh successive league title to club chairman Thlopie Motsepe.

Masandawana thrashed rivals Kaizer Chiefs 5-1 at FNB Stadium on Thursday to wrap up their seventh successive league title.

It was Mokwena’s fourth as Downs coach and the second since he took sole charge of the club, saying he wants to dedicate it to Motsepe, who has been very supportive over the last few days and weeks.

“I want to dedicate this victory, maybe even the victory is not enough, maybe the entire season to the chairman of this football club, Thlopie Motsepe,” he told SuperSport.

“I run out of [words], I get emotional. In the good moments he’s there, in the bad moments he’s there.

“The last three weeks I’ve felt very, very low. He’s been texting me every single day. And I just want to dedicate this league title, dedicate this big victory against a big rival to our Chairman Thlopie Motsepe because he is [an] unbelievable human being.

“I wish I could be half the man that he is, he’s an incredible leader. He’s been so supportive and yeah, so I hope he is watching, this is for you.”

Overall, it was Sundowns’ 17th league title, while Kaizer Chiefs – SA’s second-most successful club – have won 12.
