Riveiro On New Youngster Emerging Into Squad

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has opened up on the most recent young talent being afforded a chance in the first team.

Inexperienced goalkeeper Siyabonga Dladla, who was part of their DStv Diski Challenge, Pele Pele and Pretoria Callies in the past few seasons, earned minutes in Pirates 1-1 draw with Granada.

He made it onto the pitch after the hour mark, replacing first-choice stopper Sipho Chaine and managed to hold his own, keeping the game at 1-1 until full-time.

“Yeah one more, one more [youngster], the possibility to play at Pirates is not depending on your age [or experience] if you are good enough, if you are ready, if we feel you can contribute there’s going to be a moment for everyone,” Riveiro told SuperSport after the game.

“And we need to check these young boys if they are already in a good space in a good position to [contribute], sooner [rather] than later, fight for minutes [in the first-team].”

The 23-year-old will be aiming to push for a place in the Pirates first-team alongside Chaine and Melusi Buthelezi after the exit of vice-captain Richard Ofori.
