Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has opened up on the most recent young talent being afforded a chance in the first team.
Inexperienced goalkeeper Siyabonga Dladla, who was part of their DStv Diski Challenge, Pele Pele and Pretoria Callies in the past few seasons, earned minutes in Pirates 1-1 draw with Granada.
He made it onto the pitch after the hour mark, replacing first-choice stopper Sipho Chaine and managed to hold his own, keeping the game at 1-1 until full-time.
“And we need to check these young boys if they are already in a good space in a good position to [contribute], sooner [rather] than later, fight for minutes [in the first-team].”
The 23-year-old will be aiming to push for a place in the Pirates first-team alongside Chaine and Melusi Buthelezi after the exit of vice-captain Richard Ofori.
