Sundowns Thrash AmaZulu

Mamelodi Sundowns maintained their unbeaten run by thrashing AmaZulu by 3-0 to move 12 points clear on top.

Thr first 10 minutes of the encounter started with Sundowns moving the ball around trying to find spaces as AmaZulu remained compact.

On the 11th minute Zuko Mdunyelwa played an over ball to Bongani Zungu who tried to play a cross but took a deflection on Fielies which nearly beaten Mzimela between the sticks cornerkick was given.

Usuthu got a chance in the 13th minute after Ethan Brooks played a defense-splitting pass to set up Moremi but his first touch let him done as he ended up losing the control. Bongani Zungu played yet another ball over the defence, which found Gaston Sirino allowed in the box but his shot went wide.

Mbongeni Gumede got booked inside 16th minute after fouling Teboho Mokoena. Second yellow card in a space of a minute for AmaZulu after Fielies pulled Ribeiro.

Usuthu had a chnace from a corner kick after 26 minutes but Augustine Kwem headed it over the cross bar.

On the 36th minute Aubrey Modiba drove the ball forward, eliminating two AmaZulu players before taking a shot, but it went wide.

Just two minutes into the second half, Sundowns continued with their dominance as Modiba played a good pass to Gaston Sirino whose shot keeper Mzimela saved but Lucas Ribeiro Costa was there to tuck home.

Four minutes before the hour mark Ribeiro made it 2-0 after a great cross from Lebogang Maboe.

In the 77th minute Ribeiro completed his hat-trick to make it 3-0 after a great pass from Bongani Zungu.

The three points saw Downs move to 42 points on the log, 12 ahead of second-placed Cape Town City, who have played one more game.
