Ten Men Chiefs Hold Galaxy

Ten men Kaizer Chiefs held TS Galaxy to a 2-2 draw in their DStv Premiership encounter at the Peter Mokaba stadium on Tuesday evening.

Chiefs scored first through Ranga Chivaviro in the 18th minute after Mpho Mvelase’s defensive complacency.

But Amakhosi were their own worst enemy four minutes later as captain Edmilson Dove gave away a penalty with a hand ball. Siphiwe Mahlangu stepped up and slotted home the equaliser.

Chiefs troubles did not end there as Dove was given his marching orders just before half-time after getting a second booking for a foul on Kamogelo Sebelebele.

A few minutes earlier Njabulo Ngcobo could have restored Chiefs’ lead from a Mdu Shabalala pass but the Galaxy goalkeeper pulled a super save to deny him.

In the second half Cavin Johnson introduced Thatoyaone Ditlhokwe for Christian Saile. Five minutes into the second half the hosts won a set-piece that Chivaviro scored to complete his brace and regain the side’s lead.

Chiefs could have had a third goal two minutes after the hour mark from Reeve Frosler’s long range shot but the Galaxy keeper made another good save.

Galaxy weren’t done as they equalised again through Mahlangu, this time with a header from a Samir Nurkovic corner.

This is the second game in a row that Chiefs finishes with 10 men after Given Msimango was sent off against Mamelodi Sundowns in Soweto last week.

Meanwhile the result sees Cavin Johnson’s men remain in eighth position on log with 34 points from 27 matches, while the Rockets are fifth with 39 points with a game in hand.
