Zwane Agrees With Rulani

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has agreed with Rulani Mokwena’s notion that the league title is not won in January.

The Amakhosi currently sit in fourth spot on the log after collecting 24 points from 14 games so far. However, the gap to leaders Mamelodi Sundowns is 10 points.

Former Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp said this week that Masandawana already wrapped up the title, but when Zwane was asked about his views, he didn’t want to throw in the towel just yet.

“There is still 16 games to play for but I’ll conquer with the Mamelodi Sundowns coach, coach Rulani who said the league has never been won in January,” he told journalists on Thursday.

Zwane also explained that he’s happy with the progress the team has made, even though there were some setbacks.

“When you are building a team, we’ve got a lot of youngsters, we’ve got a lot of new players to adapt, to adjust to the pressure as well,” he added.

“With us, we have to grind the results as well at the same time you have to come up with a plan to build the identity.

“So far so good, I’m pleased. To be quite honest, I’m pleased, the players have responded positively even though it’s going to be a long a journey.

“But at the end of the day you can see everyone is enjoying themselves, everyone feels part of the team and you can see the results though sometimes they are not coming or we’re blowing hot and cold.

“But I’m just glad that we’ve seen a lot of positives.”

Chiefs are back in action on Saturday where they will host Sekhukhune United when the club will celebrate their 53rd birthday, with tickets available for just R30 for the club’s supporters.
