Mokoena Reveals His EPL Favourites

Former Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena has named Manchester City as his to win the Premier League title this season tittle this season.

The 2024/25 season has only played five rounds so far and City who are the defending champions are top of the log with an unbeaten record. Pep Guardiola’s charges have dominated the league in recent years having won six of the last seven titles, and four in a row.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth defender spoke to iDiski Times editor Rob Delport in edition 172 of the newspaper where he said even if the season has just begun, the Citizens will win the title again because of their manager’s philosophy and an eye for players to match it.

“So, it’s still early days, but I always say, you look at Man City, Rob, Man City,” Mokoena told iDiski Times.

“You know what I like about Pep? He has this saying that, ‘Why do you fix it if it’s not broken?’ The only thing that he does is he just adds to the foundation that he has built. People can probably say it’s because of money, but the man went to Bayern Munich, he turned Bayern Munich to what it is today. He won trophies with Bayern Munich. He went to Barcelona. He did what he’s doing now.

“So, he’s a manager with philosophy and players that he is recruiting are players that are suitable for his philosophy. So, I see Man City taking it again. Still early days. Injuries are there. They have a lot of trophies to play for, but they’ve started well. They have started well. So, for me, I think Man City actually will be the contenders again.”
