Riveiro On Gilberto Display In Jwaneng Win

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro says he was happy about Gilberto and every other player’s performance in their win over Jwaneng Galaxy.

Pirates secured a late 1-0 win at Orlando Stadium to secure a 3-0 aggregate victory over the Botswana Premier League champions and seal their place in the CAF Champions League group stage.

Relebohile Mofokeng set up Monnapule Saleng for a late winner at eSgodini, but the performance of Gilberto raised some questions, with sections of supporters showing a bit of impatience over the highly rated Angola international winger.

“I’m so happy about each and every individual who participated in the game,” Riveiro said when asked for an assessment of his performances since his move from Petro de Luanda.

“I know how difficult it is to face these games, we’re fully behind all of our players because, like I said, we’re having our first experiences together in these type of matches.

“And for sure this game is going to help all of them to feel more confident and to continue improving our performances in the future, in the Champions League.”

The 23-year-old joined Pirates in the off-season in a reported R10-million deal from the Girabola giants where he scored 10 goals with four assists in 43 games.
