Liverpool have announced the signing of Bayer Leverkusen forward Florian Wirtz in a £116million (R2.8 billion) British record transfer on a five-year contract.
The German playmaker becomes the Reds’ second major signing of the summer window after they also scooped Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen.

The 22-year-old Wirtz and Frimpong won a domestic double under Xabi Alonso in 2023/24, and then also won the German Super Cup last season.
Liverpool confirmed via social media on Friday morning that Wirtz had joined the club.
