Kaizer Chiefs caretaker coach Cavin Johnson has confirmed that his side still have three players sidelined ahead of their Soweto derby clash with Moroka Swallows on Saturday.
Amakhosi return to the league after their shock Nedbank Cup first round exit against Milford FC. However, they are unbeaten in five successive DStv Premiership, winning five and drawing two.
Over their last seven games, Chiefs have scored just four goals, with the lack of efficiency being one of the big issues at Naturena – as seen in the Nedbank Cup against Milford.
“It happens in football, and unfortunatley for Kaizer Chiefs it happened to us this year,” Johnson said on the early cup exit against lower league side.
“The boys were not in a good space after the game. It takes a few hours, maybe days to overcome the disappointment from the cup game.
“We have to pick ourselves up because the next game is sooner than you think, I think two days, three days (sic), there is no space in between to lay your head down for long.
“As football people, as athletes they have to pick themselves quicker up than you think and we have to help them get their so that we can prepare for the next league game.”
Johnson also confirmed that he has no new injury issues, with Tebogo Potsane, George Matlou and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe being the only absentees.
“Everybody is available except that Potsane has a little hernia injury,” he said, when asked by iDiski Times.
“George is still out, just recovering from operations. TT is still recovering.”
The match against Swallows will be a good chance for Chiefs to get back to winning ways after their Soweto rivals has had to battle their own off-field issues since December.
“Redemption is probably a good word for our team,” Johnson added.
“We’ve prepared well, the boys have taken the loss against Milford not easy and we are preparing as we speak to make sure that we take Swallows to FNB and do our best.”
The match between Chiefs and Swallows kicks off at 17:45 at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
