Agent Sets Record Straight On Shandu Exit Rumours

Bandile Shandu’s representative Mike Makaab has dispelled exit rumours of his client, affirming that the player is staying put at Orlando Pirates.

The Buccaneers confirmed the exit of four players on Friday, two days after parting ways with trickster Fortune Makaringe, who according to iDiski Times sources has been snapped up by Cape Town City.

While Souaibou Marou also left already, there was talk that Shandu could be the next through the exit door, with his agent setting the record straight on those rumours, stating that Shandu has two more years left on his contract at Pirates.

“I don’t know where the rumors come from because [Bandile] Shandu’s contract with Pirates expires in June 2026,” Makaab told iDiski Times exclusively.

“He is happy at the club and the club is happy with him. He has been struggling with an injury. He is in the middle of his rehabilitation program.”

This past season, the Pietermaritzburg-born midfielder has struggled to shake off injuries, making just 16 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals, and assisting on one occasion.

Shandu has been with Buccaneers since July 2021 when he joined from Maritzburg United. He has featured over 85 times for the Mayfair outfit, scoring nine goals and laying five assists. He has won two Nedbank Cups and two MTN8 trophies in the process.
