Broos Names Next Bafana Squad

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named his preliminary Bafana Bafana squad for the two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

Broos’ men will return to action in the upcoming FIFA break, taking on the Super Eagles away from home on 7 June before hosting Zimbabwe at home on 11 June.

The second match will take place at Free State Stadium – the first international match at the venue since the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Bafana are currently second in Group C after beating Benin 2-1 before their shock 2-0 loss to Rwanda on a waterlogged pitch.

Nigeria, meanwhile, started their campaign with two draws – a 1-1 with Lesotho and another 1-1 in Zimbabwe.

Broos recalled Burnley striker Lyle Foster for the first time since missing the AFCON due to mental health issues, while Thabo Moloisane, Devin Titus and Relebohile Mofokeng received their first call-ups.

Siyabonga Ngezana, who had passport issues the last time around, also returns to the squad.

Broos still needs to cut down his list from 36 names to just 23 and the final squad will be announced in the next few days, SAFA confirmed.
