Bradley Carnell’s Philadelphia Union narrowly beat his former side St Louis City by 1-0 to return to the top of the Major League Soccer league table.
Philadelphia made it four wins in the first five games of the season after a 1-0 over St Louis City. Early as in the eighth minute goal from Ian Glavinovich was enough to seal the with for Carnell’s side.
They are now top of the MLS main league table with 12 points, level with Vancouver Whitecaps, with a goal difference separating the two. Meanwhile, in the Eastern Conference league table, they were top, followed by Charlotte FC with 10 points.
Olwethu Makhanya was out serving the two-match suspension after receiving a red card in stoppage time against Nashville FC in their 3-1 loss at home.
Philadelphia’s next encounter is against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami away from home. Miami is yet to taste a defeat after playing four matches and collecting 10 points.
