Kaizer Chiefs have included several DStv Diski Challenge talents as part of their pre-season squad that took off for the Netherlands on Thursday.
It’s the second season Chiefs take their pre-season to Europe after their trip to Turkey last season, where the likes of Nkosana Mbuthu and Manqoba Ozoemena were part of the contingent.
Ozoemena is said to be part of the team again, with Kabelo Nkgwesa, Thulani Mabaso and Naledi Hlongwane, with the latter the most likely to be a first-team player for the 2025/26 season, having been called up several times to train with the seniors.
Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has not hidden his desire to look towards the club’s academy to develop players ready for the first team, showing his willingness to offer opportunities in his debut season.
Mfundo Vilakazi, Wandile Duba, Mduduzi Shabalala, were integral parts of the squad while Aden McCarthy made his long-awaited first team bow towards the latter stages of the season.
The new crop of youngsters will now have the opportunity to impress Nabi and his technical team, while also push for opportunities to feature in their upcoming friendlies in Europe.
Amakhosi arrived today for a two-week camp, where they are based in Apeldoorn, 80km away from the nation’s capital, Amsterdam – and have five friendly matches confirmed, with four of them open to the public.
