Chiefs Suffer Major Blow Ahead Of Season Opener

Kaizer Chiefs have suffered a blow ahead of their 2024/25 season opener with the exit of assistant coach Fernando da Cruz.

The Frenchman has been allowed to return to Morocco where he will take up a role with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation with immediate effect.

Da Cruz was approached by FRMF two weeks ago with a lucrative offer for the newly formed OCP Group project alongside former national team coach and scout Fathi Jamal.

The development project which was announced last month is a strategic partnership to create a National Football Training Fund, dedicated to the professionalisation of training centres and the promotion of youth in the country.

iDiski Times can confirm Da Cruz has been allowed to leave Chiefs after the FRMF sent an official letter to the club asking for the former AS FAR boss to join their new venture.

Da Cruz has now left the country, after Chiefs agreed to his exit, leaving the new-look project under head coach Nasreddine Nabi before an official match for Amakhosi.

Chiefs open their campaign against Marumo Gallants next week Saturday at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein (17h30).
