Chiefs Thump Simba To Cruise In CAFCC Group Stages

Kaizer Chiefs booked their place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages with a convincing 3-1 win over AS Simba at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

With the game evenly poised at 0-0 from the first leg tie in DR Congo last week, the second leg was over from as early as the third minute when Chiefs took full control with the opener from Etiosa Ighodaro.

Their new striker profited from Glody Lilepo’s shot being parried into his wake, for a simple tap in, and before the half hour mark their was a quick-fire double, with Zitha Kwinika and Lilepo both finding the net.

Kwinika with a well-timed finish from Mfundo Vilakazi’s free kick, which looked like something straight from the training ground for the Soweto giants, as they went comfortably ahead 3-0 at the break.

An avalanche of chances fell Chiefs’ way in the second period but instead conceded a late consolation for Simba through Aden McCarthy.
