Chiefs Within Reach Of Maiden DDC Title

Kaizer Chiefs are just one win away from clinching their maiden DStv Diski Challenge crown when they take on Magesi FC while Stellenbosch FC will aim to keep the pressure and possibly push the title race till the last day of the season.

After being awarded a 3-0 walkover in their pending case against Chippa United, who failed to pitch up for their match in early February, Amakhosi will be crowned champions should they overcome Magesi FC at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Vela Khumalo’s charges are on a good run of winning eight of their last nine matches drawing only one, which was against Stellenbosch. They currently sit on 64 points, four ahead of second-placed Stellies and with just two rounds of fixtures left, Chiefs will win their first DDC title regardless of the Stellies result.

In the Winelands, the defending champions welcome Marumo Gallants to keep tabs with Chiefs and push the title chase to the last day of the season. Stellenbosch have won 10 of their last 12 matches, drawing one and losing one, which was against Orlando Pirates.

Another big clash is between third-placed Mamelodi Sundowns and Sekhukhune United. Masandawana aim to cement their third spot while Coach Bernard Parker’s TS Galaxy side do battle with Orlando Pirates.

Rejuvinated AmaZulu FC are up against SuperSport United on Sunday morning.
