Stellenbosch FC’s in-form striker Ashley Du Preez has commented on rumours linking him with a move to Kaizer Chiefs ahead of his side’s clash with the Amakhosi.

Stellies will host the Glamour Boys at the Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday, which will be there first home match with supporters back in the stands.



Du Preez, who has scored seven goals in the DStv Premiership this season and also won the DStv Compact Cup, has been linked with a move to Naturena.

However, the 24-year-old has insisted he’s only focussing on his current team.

“I am happy where I am. I am more focused on Stellenbosch,” he said, as per The Sowetan. 

“I want to contribute for this team. So, I am not focused on rumours.”

Du Preez, who grew up in Stellenbosch, also shared his excited about finally playing in front of a home crowd again. 

“The return of fans means a lot to me,” he added.

“Growing up here in Idas Valley, the community supported me, so it’s great to have them watching me again at Danie Craven Stadium. 

“I promise that we’ll give the fans a nice show.”

The match will kick off at 17:00 on Saturday.
