Ex-Chiefs & Pirates Playmakers Join Gallants

Marumo Gallants head coach Dan Malesela has confirmed Xola Mlambo and Kamohelo Mahlatsi have been signed ahead of the new season.

Mlambo has been a free agent since parting ways with TS Galaxy, while Mahlatsi was released by Chippa United at the end of last season.

Both represent technically gifted players that have been seemingly written off by other clubs, while Malesela will be aiming to get the best out of this season.

“We have signed them already [Mlambo and Mahlatsi], we just have to make a formal announcement on the players we have signed,” Malesela confirmed.

In his second stint at Gallants, which returned to the top-flight after the status purchase of Moroka Swallows, Malesela revealed why he returned to a club where he was previously sacked at.

And this came after they already parted ways with Dylan Kerr as head coach before an official match was played.

“I’m not scared of challenges, number one. Number two, you need to say to yourself; ‘what mistakes have I made previously that led me not to stay at this team for quite some time’,” he stated.

“I need to correct and get this team in a good position, these clubs are owned by people who are honest and passionate about the game and you don’t want to fail them. As much as it’s not just me involved, it’s players as well.

“But you need to make sure everyone and the players understand the responsibility we have, considering the money spent and investment in the game as well – I cherish the challenge and the chance given.”

Gallants host Kaizer Chiefs in their league opener next week at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, their home ground for the upcoming season.
