Spurs Complete Next Signing

Cape Town Spurs have completed a move for former Richards Bay captain and defender Katlego Maphathe, iDiski Times has learnt.

Maphathe parted ways with Natal Richboyz in October 2023, outside of the transfer window, which made it difficult for him to sign for any club, as he could only be registered from January.

The former Bay captain helped the Natal Richboyz gain promotion to the DStv Premiership three seasons ago.

His exit at Bay came as a shock as he was a pillar the previous season, making over 30 appearances in all competitions.

But things were no longer the same this current campaign, as he only made five appearances after three months into 2023/24.

Information received by iDiski Times states that Maphathe arrived at Spurs on Wednesday and had his first training session the same day.

The 28-year-old previously worked with assistant Vasili Manousakis at Bay and helped the side survive relegation.

According to close sources, Spurs have completed Maphathe’s deal and hope he can solidify their defence before their relegation fight resumes in mid-February, after letting in 33 goals in 16 matches they’ve played.

They announced the signing of Siphesihle Maduna on Thursday after his exit from AmaZulu FC, while also bringing in Tanzanian defender Gadiel Kamagi.
