Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Junior has explained why the club brought academy product Njabulo Blom back.
Blom, 24, came through the club’s youth levels and made his first-team debut in 2019. However in December 2022 he joined Major League Soccer club St. Louis City.
He initially featured regularly under Bradley Carnell but somewhat struggled for game-time when the former Chiefs defender got sacked.
On Tuesday, Chiefs announced the return of their former midfielder on loan, with Motaung Jr. saying he is a “valuable addition” to Nasreddine Nabi’s squad.
“We are excited to welcome Njabulo back to the team. His experience in the MLS and his familiarity with our Club ethos make him a valuable addition to our squad,” he told the club’s media team.
“We look forward to seeing his impact on the field because we know how valuable he is to our game model.”
Blom made 94 senior appearances for Chiefs so far, but it yet to score for his boyhood club. he leaves St. Louis after 47 games.
