Venda Football Club head coach Duncan Lechesa slammed the officiating after Cape Town Spurs received a penalty deep in the second half to earn a 1-0 win.
It was a tough tussle at UWC Sports Ground on Friday where Spurs hosted their first home of the season. Things heated up in the second half when the Urban Warriors were awarded a penalty two minutes before the final whistle, which new signing Mervi Boji stepped up and converted.
Speaking to iDiski Times, Lechesa felt hard done by the referee and went on to say he could see from the onset that something was about to happen.
“What more can I say?” Lechesa told iDiski Times.
“Another penalty two minutes before the final whistle, but I could see from the onset. I’m not a person who will complain about the referee.
“It is what it is today. You ask a question, and I get a yellow card.
“Yes, second half we came back and tried to overload the centre-back but with that, there’s nothing you can do to penalty, they threw everything inside the box.
“It is [the level of officiating is the problem], maybe God one day will come to us and give that, but I could see where it’s going,” he added.
