Maritzburg United are closing in on the signing of South Africa youth international Fuad Johnson ahead of the new Motsepe Foundation Championship season.
Johnson, 21, was part of the all-conquering youth side of Stellenbosch that won the Engen Knockout and DStv Diski Challenge where the bulk of the players earned first-team contracts.
However, Johnson failed to establish himself in the senior set-up, making four appearances under Steve Barker, before joining La Masia in 2022 in search of regular game time.
The former Old Mutual and Highlands Park talent scored 14 goals in 52 games, featuring across the front line for the side, who were relegated after two seasons in the second tier.
The Team of Choice have wasted no time snapping him up for their promotion push, viewing the talented forward as a key addition to the squad added the eligibility of the U23 ruling which marks him as a vital addition to The Team of Choice.
