Golden Arrows head coach Manqoba Mngqithi reckons that Gavin Hunt still had a very good run following his sudden sacking by Durban City.
The Betway Premiership outfit announced on Monday that they had parted ways with the four-time PSL-winning coach by mutual consent after ‘a review of the footballing strategy conducted by the club’s Board of Directors’.

Speaking to the media after Abafana Bes’thende’s narrow 1-0 defeat to AmaZulu in the KwaZulu-Natal Derby on Tuesday night, Mngqithi credited how Hunt had transformed the young players but also said he was not critical of the club’s decision to let Hunt go.
“Because I think Gavin, in my opinion, was still doing well at Durban City and he has introduced a lot of youngsters that are doing well and that did very well even in the NFD,” he said.
“And their position on the log for a team that is coming from the NFD, is very good.
“And I wonder what’s going to happen next from there because chances are that, if they’re not excited with what he was doing, then the question is ‘do they want to be progressive and play expansive or do they want someone that is going to give them better percentages of getting in the box’?
“But I’m not judging any team, I’m just giving you my view of how I see the PSL this season.”
