Mamelodi Sundowns defender Thapelo Morena says they were unfortunate in their build-up which saw them concede a goal after Ronwen Williams past the ball in Felix Nmecha’s path for the equalizer.
Borussia Dortmund then raced into a comfortable 4-1 lead but late goals from Iqraam Rayners and Lebogang Mothiba set up a tense finale as the Germans held on for a narrow 4-3 win.
Morena was not critical of Williams’s mistake saying that’s how they set up their play but were not lucky this time around.
“Yeah, I think there it was unfortunate. Most of the time and when we go out, it looks very, very, very good,” he told the media after the match.
“Unfortunately, today it didn’t happen and yeah, that’s how we play, and we can’t change that it’s what happened, and we had to fight back as a team.”
The Bafana Bafana winger further added that they will be a better side as they look to put their chances away when they take on Fluminense in their final Group F match.
“We gonna give our all like we gave our all today and try and convert the chances that we create.”
