Mosimane After Two Defeats – I Know I Sound Crazy But…

New Esteghlal FC head coach Pitso Mosimane believes his team improved in their second game under him, admitting it sounds “crazy” after another defeat and insisted the club needs new players.

Mosimane got the baptism of fire in the Persian Gulf Pro League after suffering back-to-back defeats, against Kheybar Khorramabad FC and league leaders Tractor FC which currently sees them occupy ninth position with eight points after nine matches.

After the 2-0 defeat against Tractor, Mosimane mentioned various factors that led to them being where they are in the league, in which he mentioned the mistakes they made and the strengthening of the squad. They won’t have much time to dwell on these results as they will face Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal in the AFC Champions League in three days.

“Another difficult situation for us, we are struggling to come out of the hole, and the results are not helping us,” the former Al Ahly mentor told the media.

“I know maybe I might sound a little bit crazy but it’s the way I see football I think we are improving to play. I think we played today more than in the last match, but this talk is not helping because, at the end of the day, football is about results.

“We played against a very good team, a disciplined team but we played well also, we did not take our chances two or three chances, you must take them otherwise they mean nothing but we suffered from individual mistakes it’s very painful.

“It’s very painful when your players make mistakes like this but it’s part of the game that’s where we are. Even if we played well today it means nothing, we lost the match that’s the way it is.

“I never thought it was the way it is right now. I knew there was a struggle but not like this, but somebody must come in and that’s me we can’t all run away but we know why we are where we are you can see.

“We need to bring players to help us, it’s so simple in football to stop the goals from coming in at the back and we need to score the goals you can see.”
