Mpheni Home Defenders head coach Sidwell Phuravhavhu has pleaded to be pitted against either Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup last 16 round.
Mpheni is a Limpopo-based side that plays in the ABC Motsepe League and previously qualified for the tournament in 2023 but were eliminated by Chippa United in the last 16 round.

In 2024, they failed to qualify but have now returned which has seen them seal passage to the next round in emphatic fashion as they hammered Motsepe Foundation Championship side Hungry Lions FC 3-1 at a packed Thohoyandou Stadium.
Phuravhavhu made it clear after the match that he would like to be drawn against Chiefs or Pirates and pray that the fixture gets played at Thohoyandou Stadium so that they can play in front of their supporters.
“Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates, we want to write our history in football,” he said after the match.
