Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signings of Ashley Du Preez and Zitha Kwinika, who will join the club on 1 July.
The duo will join the club from Stellenbosch FC, who had already announced the deals on Monday morning with iDiski Times reporting that Du Preez has signed a three-year contract with an option to extend.
Kwinika returns to his boyhood club after leaving Naturena in 2015 when he joined Chippa United. After stints with the Chilli Boys, Thanda Zulu Royal and Bidvest Wits, Kwinika, formerly known as Zitha Macheke before a name change, ended up at Stellenbosch in 2020 and has impressed ever since.
“We are very happy to have acquired the services of the two players and look forward to welcoming them to the Village when we start with our preparations for next season,” says Coach Zwane. “The two lads have the qualities we need as Amakhosi and we believe they will quickly adjust to the Amakhosi way of play and deliver the goods for the millions of supporters who have been hungry for success for a number of years.”
He joins Chiefs as the club’s Footballer and Player’s Player of the Season, while Du Preez is switching the Stellies shirt for another club for the first time.
The 24-year-old came through the club’s youth system and had his personal best season in 2021/22 when he scored nine league goals, including one against his new employers in November.
