Kaizer Chiefs have secured Ashley Du Preez on a three-year deal with an option to extend from Stellenbosch Football Club, iDiski Times has learnt.

Du Preez, 24, has been one of the leading performers for Stellies since guiding them to promotion from the GladAfrica Championship back in 2019 which alerted the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and Chiefs.

While Sundowns made a couple of enquiries to his representatives over the past two years and his potential signing was discussed amongst the technical team, no official bid was ever launched for his services, with Chiefs making him a priority addition to bolstering their attacking options after an impressive 2021/22 campaign.

This website previous reported that Chiefs had activated his buy-out clause despite previously offering one of three players in a potential player-plus-cash deal, with Happy Mashiane mooted as one of the players due to Steve Barker’s side’s previous interest in his services.

iDiski Times now have it on good authority that a deal has been concluded with Du Preez agreeing terms until 2025 with an option to extend the deal, should they be keen to retain his services beyond the period, while Chiefs are expected to confirm his arrival imminently after Stellies initial confirmation on Monday morning.

Du Preez featured in all but two of Stellies 30 league games last season, scoring nine goals and registering two assists.
