Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has shared his views ahead of their midweek clash against a well-rested Kaizer Chiefs side.
The two teams meet on Wednesday, 6 May, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in a highly anticipated encounter that could have major implications for the title race.
Sundowns are aiming for maximum points to maintain their lead at the top, currently five points clear of Orlando Pirates, who still have a game in hand.
Chiefs, meanwhile, are focused on solidifying third place to secure CAF Confederation Cup qualification next season.
While Sundowns come into the match fresh off a win against Polokwane City, Chiefs last played the previous Wednesday, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Siwelele.
Cardoso emphasised the importance of recovery, noting his side will face an energetic opponents who had the weekend off.
He added that securing all three points remains crucial to keeping their title destiny in their own hands.
“Obviously, my people are working on that. So, tomorrow [Monday] morning for sure, or even tonight [Sunday], I’m going to start to work on that,” said Cardoso.
“But it’s a match, it’s a match to be played with all respect by everybody. Obviously, it’s a match that is quite a big match in South Africa.
“So, we have to go for it and try to make it in the best way so that we can get the points because we need the points to proceed. That’s it.
“So, the objective is the same, the way we’re going to work through. There’s not a lot of time.
“So, we have two days and we are playing. For sure, you may imagine that for us, the recovery process is the most important. They didn’t play for a long time.
“This means that they come with full energy and we will be also with full energy for sure. That’s good, good match ahead.”
