Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars have announced that CEO Bucs Mthombeni has stepped down from his role to take over the head coach position.
Stars had a decent start to the 2024/25 campaign which saw them winning four out of the first five games and occupying the number one spot before going winless in six matches.

After failing to qualify for the Nedbank Cup following a 2-0 defeat to Baroka at home, Stars took a decision to part ways with head coach Sundra Govender.
On Wednesday morning, Stars announced CEO Mthombeni as the new head coach as they look to turn around the club’s fortunes and hopefully qualify for a promotional playoffs spot or automatic promotion.

This is the second stint for Mthombeni as he previously coached the side after they bought Free State Stars’ franchise, before moving aside for the appointment of Govender in July 2023.
Stars are currently sitting sixth in the league table with 20 points, five behind first-placed Durban City.
