Burnley head coach Scott Parker has revealed striker Lyle Foster was unable to feature against Chelsea due to an illness that spread through the squad.
The Bafana Bafana striker was a notable omission from the match-day squad as the Clarets secured a point at Stamford Bridge, netting a stoppage time equaliser in the 1-1 draw in London.
Foster has only missed three games this season, due to illness and a muscular strain, with the exception of the four league games during December-January where he was on international duty at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
“He was struggling a little bit with his stomach, so we decided that it was best to bring him off,” Parker said about the half-time substitute of veteran defender Kyle Walker before answering about Foster, as per the Burnley Express.
“There’s been some illness [including Foster]. Lesley [Ugochukwu] as well, he missed training on Thursday due to it.
“So, there’s been a little bit of illness in the camp, Bash [Humphreys] as well reported last night at a hotel that he was struggling.
“So, there has been a little bit of that, but we got through it.”
The Clarets are currently 19th in the Premier League, eight points from safety with 11 games remaining this season, with an uphill task to retain their top-flight status.
