Orlando Pirates have made an official offer for Iraq international Mustafa Nadhim, according reports in his home country.
Nadhim, 28, currently plays Al-Najma in Bahrain but the Buccaneers have seemingly identified him to strengthen their defence.
He has collected 29 appearances for the Iraq national team and has played for nine different clubs so far.
Pirates, though, will have to fend off interest from Iraqi clubs, according to IraqiProPlayers.
“Defender Mustafa Nazim receives an official offer from the South African club Orlando Pirates,” reads the statement on social media.
“The player has other local offers, and the students have begun official negotiations with him, but he will study the offers this week to give his final response.”
Pirates already signed Nkosinathi Sibisi and Tapelo Xoki as new defenders, while Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Justive Chabalala and Kwanda Mngonyama were all released.
Nadhim would be Pirates’ first signing since the arrival of new head coach Jose Riveiro.
