Orlando Pirates have explained why new signing Gilberto did not feature in their CAF Champions League first preliminary round second-leg against Disciples.
Man Pirates fans are eagerly awaiting the debut of Gilberto, 23, who joined the club from Petro de Luanda in the off season.
However, the 23-year-old hasn’t featured for the Buccaneers in their first two games of the season and also missed Friday’s CAFCL clash with Disciples due to work permit issues.
“Gilberto, has missed the Buccaneers’ opening fixtures as he was awaiting his work permit,” the club confirmed.
“However, Orlandopiratesfc.com can confirm that Gilberto has finally received the necessary paperwork to finally play in the famous Black and White.
“But this will only be from the next round of the CAF Champions League qualifiers, should Pirates win tonight.
“Gilberto will be available for selection for the MTN8 clash against Cape Town City next week.”
Pirates take on Cape Town City in the MTN8 semi-final first leg on Tuesday evening in Cape Town.
