Shalulile Hailed As ‘Generational’ Talent

Namibia and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has been hailed as a ‘generational’ talent by his vice-captain Ananias Gebhardt.

Shalulile, 30, has been one of the standout players in Africa since he arrived at Mamelodi Sundowns from Highlands Park back in 2020.

His status has elevated amongst those nominated for the CAF inter-club Player of the Year as he stars for club and country.

In the qualification, he scored in each of the four games in the three-team group alongside Cameroon and Burundi as the Brave Warriors went on to take four points off the five-time champions of Africa.

And his teammate, who currently plays in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with Baroka says he’s a real source of inspiration for the entire squad.

“We’re blessed to have a generational player like Peter Shalulile, I mean the stats speak for itself, numbers don’t lie, he’s been doing very great for the past few seasons,” Gebhart said about his influence in the camp.

“When he’s around you, sometimes he doesn’t even have to say much but just the hard work he puts in, the motivation you draw from that, it speaks volumes already. He’s really an influential player, he’s our captain, we’re blessed as a country to have a player like Peter Shalulile.”

Overall, Shalulile has scored 84 goals with 22 assists in 137 games across all competitions for Masandawana while winning three Golden Boot awards in the South African top-flight.
