Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter wants his side to push for top four despite finding the club in 15th place when he was appointed.
Truter replaced Kaitano Tembo at Sekhukhune when they were in a precarious position and tipped for relegation but with seven wins in 11 games, they are just 10 points off second place Orlando Pirates in the final stages of the season with nine games to go.
Truter is targeting one final push for his side, who face Royal AM on Saturday afternoon but is wary that expectations may weigh heavy on his side.
“Mathematically, we can still finish in the top four, yes our objective is the top eight, considering where we came from,” Truter said.
“We’ve managed to turn the corner around and grab some positive results that have brought some confidence and relief and I can see it in the team, right now it’s a team that wants to win every game, it’s a team that’s confident about making the top eight.
“But we don’t want to put [players] under any pressure but top-four is definitely achievable.”
On what the supporters can look forward to, the former Swallows and AmaZulu mentor was quite vocal about their increasing numbers and support at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, which has become somewhat of a fortress under him since his arrival.
“I think the brand of football we’re playing at the moment is good, our support is growing game to game, the supporters enjoy it at the moment but the results are a bit inconsistent, for our supporters we’d like to win it,” Truter added.
“We’re noticing them, we’re noticing the numbers are growing at home games, we appreciate it and them as well – we could hear them getting behind us. We want to win games for them but I want to urge them to keep supporting the guys.
“They are very professional and giving their all, I’m so thankful for them and I’d like to win our next game and the rest of the games this season.”
