Kaizer Chiefs defender Dillan Solomons reveals that they were more determined to win the Nedbank Cup more than Orlando Pirates, which showed on the field of play.
Chiefs ended their 10-year trophy drought, beating their arch-rivals 2-1 in the final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium for an unprecedented record 14th time.
Amakhosi have however been struggling in the Betway Premiership and find themselves fighting for the top eight spot.
They have been a different team in the cup of dreams, beating the likes of Stellenbosch FC, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Pirates and Solomons explained that they showed more hunger than Pirates in the final and fought with everything they had.
“The drought of 10 years was looming over us like a cloud,” Chiefs’ nuggety full-back said.
“I think it’s more the fight, I think we wanted it more than the Pirates. We came with a bit more aggression, and it showed today that sometimes aggression can win you games.
“It feels very, very good. Obviously, we wanted it a bit sooner, but everything comes in God’s time. And for us as players, I think this is a good moment for us.
“It’s been a very long time since we put smiles on our supporters’ faces, and we just have to take this moment, soak it in, and just be happy with it.”
