Wydad In Talks With SA Coach To Join Mokwena

Wydad Athletic Club are in talks with Allan Freese to join head coach Rulani Mokwena’s technical team for the 2024/25 season.

Mokwena joined Wydad in a shock move shortly after his exit from Mamelodi Sundowns, signing a three-year deal with the Botola Pro giants.

Sinethemba Badela has already joined him in Casablanca as his assistant coach and sources close to the club have confirmed Freese is set to be the next arrival.

It appears Mokwena is keen to lean on the experience of his former mentor who guided him early in his coaching career with Platinum Stars and was one of the most experienced coaches in South African football.

The pair shared a mutual admiration for each other last season during the Nedbank Cup campaign, with Freese hailing the progress and development of Mokwena who is firmly one of the finest tacticians in African football at present.

It’s believed Freese will team up with Mokwena in Morocco as early as next week as they move into first-team pre-season preparations for his debut season with the three-time CAF Champions League winners.
