Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane felt veteran goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune impressed on his return to the starting line-up.
The club captain was reinstated into the XI after an injury to Brandon Petersen in their 2-1 defeat against Swallows at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Monday.
It proved a damaging result that all but mathematically ended their hopes of securing a place in the CAF Champions League next season.
But Zwane felt that blame cannot be laid on the legendary keeper as he felt that the defence didn’t do their bit to keep the Dube Birds out the game.
“Khune did well, he made some brilliant saves in the game but unfortunately, conceded two goals. They were not his fault,” Zwane said in the post-match press conference.
“The defence should have done better – unfortunately, we didn’t defend properly. In fact, before they scored he made a great save.
“So, I think he did very well but collectively, as a team, we could have done better.”
Khune has featured 12 times for Amakhosi this season, keeping two clean sheets while conceding 14 goals.
