Zwane Sends Message To Pirates

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Arthur Zwane has sent a good luck message to Orlando Pirates, saying he hopes co-coaches Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids can bring the trophy home.

The Buccaneers will take on RS Berkane of Morocco in tonight’s CAF Confederation Cup after making the final despite struggling in somewhat domestically this season.

Zwane believes that the Pirates co-coaches have served some people “humble pie” after reaching the final of the continental cup, which not many had expected in the beginning of the season.

“With Coach Fadlu and Coach Ncikazi, we are obviously proud to see them, playing to that level. We should be proud of them,” he said when asked by iDiski Times journalist David Kappel.

“They should also be proud of themselves for the work that they are doing since the beginning of the season, it wasn’t gonna be easy for them. I don’t think many people gave them a chance to get to the final. They made people eat humble pie, here they are in the final.

“I just wish the best of luck and I hope they will bring it home for South Africa and Orlando Pirates.”

‘Ezimnyama ngenkani’ last won an international trophy in 1996 when they lifted the CAF Super Cup after qualifying for the game following their first and only CAF Champions League title in 1995.

Since then they’ve lost two finals, the CAF Champions League in 2013 against Al Ahly, and the CAF Confed Cup against Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel in 2015.
