Thembinkosi Lorch says the prospect of facing a club he supports, Manchester City is exciting and suggested there’s not much difference in Mamelodi Sundowns and Wydad Athletic Club.
Lorch, 30, is currently in the United States of America with Wydad where they open their campaign today against the Premier League giants led by Pep Guardiola, while Juventus and Al Ain of United Arab Emirates make up the rest of their group.
It marks his first Club World Cup, having joined the club on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns in January after seeking a move away for more regular first team opportunities.
“It’s exciting, Manchester City, Juventus, these are big teams you know and like I said, I’m supporting Man City, so it would be nice for me to play against them, to see how they play and learn from them, as they play on a big stage.”
Lorch went on to state that since he arrived in Morocco, he’s noted there’s not a huge difference between his current club and parent club in terms of the demands.
“Both teams have the mentality to win, both teams have good players, I would say Sundowns like to play tiki-taka,” he explained. “Wydad have that but are more aggressive, here in Wydad we are aggressive.”
Lorch has scored two goals in 14 games for the club since his mid-season switch from Masandawana.
