iDiski TV analyst Benedict Vilakazi has praised Lucas Ribeiro’s goal against Borussia Dortmund, likening it to something he’s seen produced by Argentine great Lionel Messi and fellow Brazilian Vinicius Junior.
Ribeiro opened the scoring the seven-goal thriller at the FIFA Club World Cup with a beautiful solo run from inside in his own half to slot past Gregor Kobel for his first goal at the tournament as Mamelodi Sundowns went down 4-3.
The result saw them drop to third position in Group F on three points with one match to go and Vilakazi also reckons that the 26-year old’s efforts also speak volumes about the South African league.
“It’s [the goal] something else,” said ‘Tso’ on iDiski TV.
“We are used to watching such things when the like of Messi and Vinicius do it. And now it comes from a player that’s playing in our league, it also says a lot about our league. That we’ve got such players in our league they’ve got support from teammates to be able to do that.”
Despite the loss in Cincinnati, Sundowns still have a chance to progress to the last 16 round but have to overcome Fluminense and Tso is hopeful his former side will achieve this.
“I still believe that they can go to the second round after this game,” added Tso.
“They have shown that they can do it especially scoring first, but now they need to learn that in this level you make a mistake they will punish you.”
