Brazil have suffered a blow around superstar Neymar after he was ruled out of the rest of the group stages following his ankle injury.
Neymar, 30, was seen in tears after his substitution in the 80th minute following a rough challenge.
The Selecao No.10 has had ankle issues in the past and an immediate swelling was visible as he walked into the change room after the final whistle.
Despite Brazil coach Tite initially announcing that Neymar will play again at the World Cup, Brazil’s team doctor confirmed on Friday that Neymar and right-back Danilo will both miss the rest of the group stages.
“Neymar and Danilo went through an MRI on Friday afternoon and we found ligament damage in the ankle of both of them,” he said, as per the Guardian
“They will miss the next game for sure and we will be cautious as they will undergo treatment in order to try to get them in shape so they can play again in the World Cup.”
