France Call Up Another Striker

France coach Didier Deschamps has called up Marcus Thuram as final player to his 2022 FIFA World Cup squad.

Deschamps had only named 25 players in his squad last week, leaving space for one more.

On Monday, the French coach has also added Thuram, the son of 1998 World Cup winner Lilian Thuram, to his selection.

The Borussia Monchengladbach striker becomes France’s 26th and final player, as each squad is allowed to have 26 names on the final list, which is supposed to be submitted by 14 November (today).

Thuram has had a fine start to the 2022/23 campaign so far, scoring 13 goals in 17 games for the Bundesliga side.

He has only made four appearances for Les Bleus so far, the last in June 2021.
