Veteran goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa is the main headliner in Mexico’s 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup that gets underway next week.
The 40-year-old will represent El Tri in a record-setting sixth World Cup after being roped back into the set-up.

Ochoa has been part of Mexico’s World Cup story since 2006 and will be on the grandest stage for his final dance before hanging up his gloves.
Javier Aguirre’s charges will be without first choice Luis Angel Malagon after his withdrawal through a torn left Achilles tendon in March which ultimately rules him out of the tournament.

The World Cup co-hosts take on South Africa in their opening Group A clash at Estadio Banorte in Mexico City on 11 June, in a repeat of the 2010 opener in Mzansi, with the tie ending in a 1-1 stalemate.
They then host Korea Republic on 19 June at Estadio Akron in Zapopan before they conclude the group stage against Czechia on 25 June at Estadio Banorte.
Mexico wrapped up their world cup preparations with a narrow 1-0 win over Australia on Sunday.
